About 1940, my Gr-Gr-Aunt Hannah typed out a collection of poems (and other works) – most were her own poems, but others were by members of her extended family, friends, and notable poets that she must have known personally or admired from a distance.  She took these typed pages and had them bound in (what must have been an expensive) leather cover.

The other authors were:

Alexander Gordon Hutchinson – “Uncle Gordon”
Emma Jane Gardner – Hannah’s sister
Helen “Marcella” Gardner – Sister Mary Judith – Hannah’s niece
Virginia Agnes “Jean” Wenzel – Hannah’s great niece
Teresa Gardner – Hannah’s sister
Mary Thecla Durward – Hannah’s cousin
Father James Durward – Hannah’s cousin
Father John Durward – Hannah’s cousin
Wilfrid Dorward – Hannah’s cousin
Bernard Isaac Durward – Hannah’s great uncle and father of Mary Thecla, James, John, and Wilfrid
Father Abram J Ryan
May E Webster – Hannah’s colleague in Appleton School District
Eben E Rexford – his poem was written for an N.E.A. convention, which Aunt Emma attended
Brother Thomas Napientek – a member of St Camillus, Hannah likely knew him from Durward’s Glen
Ellen Wood McKinney – a native of Neosho, WI; she and Hannah lived there at the same time
Arlene Holsaple Hoege – she wrote a poem about Durward’s Glen and lived nearby
